The
main goal of the project is to raise awareness
on water pollution and its consequences in three selected river basins
and to contribute to the reduction of nutrient pollution. The project
will promote the sub-basin approach for dealing with pollution
problems and will serve as a model for addressing problems in a river
basin - including both technical issues and public participation.
Objectives
1. To transfer and disseminate to the public the existing expert
information on the main point and non-point sources of pollution in
three river basins.
2. To undertake a public campaign to motivate and mobilise local
people in three river basins to take direct actions for reducing water
pollution in their neighbourhoods.
3. To promote environmentally friendly farming methods and stakeholder
co-operation as effective tools to reduce nutrient pollution in waters.
4. To contribute to nutrient pollution reduction in the Ogosta
basin, Bulgaria with the construction of wetland site.
